Recommended Journals for Organic Food

“Nutrition & Food Science”: This journal covers beverage, food, and nutrition research in an easy, accessible way. Its purpose is to inform individuals, organizations, and health professionals about the upcoming attitudes and research in the food science and nutrition field.

“Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition”: Critical viewpoints are presented relating to human nutrition, current technology, and food science. Scientific discoveries or new acquisitions of knowledge are also presented in relation to functional foods, nutrition, technology, and food safety.

“International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition”: The aim of the journal is to integrate nutrition and food science. A wide range of nutrition/food topics are discussed and improvement of knowledge in human nutrition is always the final objective of all submitted research.

I chose to focus on the “Food habits of university nutrition students:  pilot study” which I found in the Emerald “Nutrition & Food Science” journal. I chose this to study because the premise of the research was extremely interesting. I was also curious about the results as well as how information was collected. I wanted to know what the results looked like since it was one of the first studies of its kind and it focused on not only university students, but those studying nutrition as a discipline. It was published on September 11, 2009 and the subjects were at Kuwait University. The purpose of the experiment is as follows: “test the feasibility and effectiveness of a present‐oriented combined evaluation/intervention approach to nutrition education.” The results had some overall conclusions like the majority ate more than the recommended limit of sweet and fatty foods, healthy fats and water intake was more than the recommended limit, and a lower amount of vegetables were consumed than recommended. The study was easy to read and clear for those interested in the results/method.
