1.What was your search process when finding resources (what databases did you use, news articles, journals, etc.)?
My search process varied from using databases like Credo Reference to using platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Google. Over time the library databases became a lot easier to use, and they became very helpful when conducting my research.
2. What were the search terms you used while searching? Note, reference your search strategies worksheet if you can’t remember.
Some search terms that I used often were "organic food", "in-organic food", "organic farming", "pesticides", "biodiversity", and "health". I commonly used the Boolean Logic term "AND" to yield results that contained both "organic food" and "in-organic food".
3. What citation style did you use and why? Do you feel that you improved this semester with your citations?
The citation style that I used was MLA format. I do feel that I improved this semester with my citations since I had a lot of practice every week. This practice was also useful in helping me cite correctly in my other classes.
4. What was your favorite resource to find? (Be specific, if the resource was a book say “this book” if it was a news article say “this news article”)
My favorite resource to find was the personal interview with my mother discussing organic food. I enjoyed this the most, because I learned a lot about my topic and my mother in the process.
5. What was your least favorite resource to find? (Again, be specific)
·My least favorite resource to find was the "Recommended Journal for Organic Food". I struggled using the library database and had to get creative with my search terms. Finding articles that seemed relevant to my topic was extremely difficult.
6. What was one thing you learned about your research topic?
One thing I learned about my research topic is that organic food benefits the body, the planet, and the market are gaining momentum. I was not very familiar with the biodiversity aspect, so that was especially interesting to learn about.
7. What is one question you still have regarding your research topic?
One question that I still have revolves around the price of organic food. How can we make organic food easily accessible to the mass markets?
